Music
The Music Outreach Network of Cork City Music College has been involved in extracurricular music activities at Scoil Chroí Naofa for many years. Each day after school, music teachers from CCMC provide a huge variety of instrumental, vocal, and theory classes. Subjects currently being taught in our school include music theory, piano, recorder, flute, violin, group violin, guitar, group guitar, and voice training.
The beginner theory class for first and second class students, The Music Bug Club, is hugely popular and gives students a vital foundation for furthering their musical studies. Classes are provided from complete beginners to diploma level.
Glounthaune students of CCMC regularly get the opportunity to perform in concerts and competitions in Glounthaune and in other venues around Cork. There is a growing body of evidence that demonstrates that participation in music education enhances concentration and improves academic performance. The aim of CCMC is to give students a love of music and to provide the highest standards of music education, awareness, and appreciation to students of all standards, ages, and capabilities. Each student is an individual and as such will be encouraged to fulfil his or her own musical abilities.
