Today we welcomed a very special visitor to the school. Rachel Reid and her daughter Alanna came to the school to receive a cheque in the amount of €526 raised by the children on a sponsored jersey day before Christmas. Rachel and Alanna live in Knockraha and Alanna lives with a condition known as ‘epidermolysis bullosa’ or Butterfly skin syndrome. This is a painful genetic condition that means that Alanna must be covered from head to toe in surgical wraps to protect her delicate skin from blistering..a process that can take 3hrs at a time to change. Alanna was a joy to have in the school and the children were delighted to help in some small way to contribute to the charity that supports these children in Ireland.
