Christmas Carol Service

One of the highlights of the festive season took place on December 10th in Glounthaune Church when Ms.O’ Riordan organised our annual Christmas Carol Service. A large crowd turned up to hear a selection of choirs from this parish, this school, and from parishes around east Cork and the city. We also had individual contributers. The evening had so many highlights and all present declared themselves uplifted following the performances. Others declared that Christmas had now really started for them such was the Christmas spirit engendered! Thanks of course must go to Ms. O’Riordan for once again organising this excellent event as well as to Moni Fadairo who as presenter did such a great job. Finally over €300 was raised on the night from voluntary contributions to St. Vincent de Paul.

INTO Mini 7's

INTO Mini Sevens Competition

The first round of this was held in Carrigtwohill in the second week in November.  Our boys won all three games beating Killeagh, Whitegate and Carrigtwohill.  They girls achieved the same success in all three of their games against the same opposition.  The County Finals were played on November 26th in Nemo GAA Grounds.  The boys had three tough games versus Glenville (a draw), Castlemartyr (narrowly beaten by 2 points) and St. Anthony’s (beaten by 2 goals).  The boys played some excellent football and while their final game showed the biggest gap in scores, it was probably where they played some of their best football and showed real grit and determination to push St. Anthony’s (the subsequent winners) to the end.  So well done to Eoin Deasy, Conor Casey, Louis Casey, Fionn O’Brien, Robert Dillon, Ronan Blackton, Conor Lenihan, Andrew Dwyer, James Daly and Kieran Collins.

The girls had four matches to play versus Eglantine, Ballintotis, Ballyphehane and Watergrasshill scoring an average of 4 – 3 in each game and conceding very few scores.  The girls won all four games to be crowned County Champions for the third year in a row!!! An unreal achievement for the school and congratulations to Sophie O’Neill, Ciara Irwin, Ellen Harrington, Aoife Kelliher, Kayla O’Connor, Favour Orimolusi, Maeve Wall, Jenny Fitzharris, Kate O’Donovan and Helen Savage.

Many thanks to all the parents who came along to support the boys and girls on both days.  The craic was mighty on the sideline!

School Sciath na Scol victory...!

All roads led to Páirc Uí Rinn on November 19th for our double final.  With the girls playing Scoil Nioclás Frankfield and the boys playing G.S. Carrigaline, it was a very special day to have both our teams involved.  The girls had a convincing win on a scoreline of 4 – 3 to 0 – 1.  They were dominant from the very start and kept up the intensity all the way through the game to be deserving winners in the end.

The boys had a tough match with G.S. Carrigaline being the more dominant of the two teams in the first half. At half time, they had built a convincing lead but the ‘never say never’ attitude of our boys meant they clawed their way back into the game, closing the margin to just 4 points at one stage.  They should be very proud of their display on the day.  With a total of ten matches played y the boys and the girls, it was a huge achievement to reach the finals so very well done to you all!!!  You were a credit to yourselves, your families and the school.

Thank you to all the brilliant supporters and the parents.  Also thank you to Mr. O’Keeffe, Ms. Harrington and Mr. O’Sullivan for their great help.
